Getting Started

This page is a starting point for anyone making use of the SIL for the first time.

If this is your first time using the lab, please follow the procedures below.

There are a few steps needed to be able to work in the lab.

  1. Read the Safety Rules.
  2. Fill in the Safety Form (you can find the safety form in Safety Form and how to fill it in How to fill the Safety Form).
  3. Send the Safety Form to sil-ee@utwente.nl.
  4. Request Access to the lab through Sesam (more details on how to do this can be found in Room Access Request).
  5. Wait for the Approval Email.
  6. Use the lab.

  1. Decide which equipment you would like to use.
  2. Read the Safety Rules.
  3. Fill in the Safety Form (you can find the safety form in Safety Form and how to fill it in How to fill the Safety Form).
  4. Request an introduction workshop by emailing sil-ee@utwente.nl.
  5. Go through the Introduction.
  6. Send the Safety Form to the email sil-ee@utwente.nl.
  7. Create an account at the booking system Here (the lab assistants will grant you access to the equipment you have passed the instruction for).
  8. Book a time slot to use the machine.
  9. Request Access to the lab through Sesam (more details on how to do this can be found in Room Access Request).
  10. Wait for the Approval Email.
  11. Use the lab during the booked timeslot.

Once the Introduction steps are completed, the access to the lab can be done with the steps below.

  1. If soldering station available: Use the lab.
  1. Book a time slot to use the machine.
  2. Use the lab during the booked timeslot.

The Safety Form needs to be filled in by all users of the lab. There is two versions of the Safety Form, one for the Researchers/Technicians or PhD students and a student version for Bachelor/Master's students. Bellow you can find a quick guide on how to fill in the Safety Form.

This part provides the list of equipment that can be found in each lab-room. More details for each machine can be found either on their respective pages or checking their linked manuals below.
